FIERA DEL LEVANTE, THE NEW COLLECTIVE EMPLOYMENT AGREEMENT HAS BEEN SIGNED
A new collective employment agreement involving the personnel of Fiera del Levante was signed on January 30. This is an important result and a significant achievement through which the company continues to implement its relaunch and restructuring process.
The contract combines human resources development with labour cost reduction, focusing in particular on the need to resort to overtime work. Executives will no longer have the right to remuneration for overtime. In this way, the new contract corrects an anomaly that deeply affected company’s budget in the past.
After decades, employee working time has been raised from 36 to 38 hours per week (from 38 to 40 for security staff). This measure gives Fiera del Levante the possibility to face ordinary work activities without resorting to extra work or to overtime.
Part-time employee working hours (and remuneration) will be generally increased by two months/year.
Fiera del Levante is now focusing on a relaunch process and aims at raising employment rate, unlike the current trend of labour market. Part-time employees will change their “vertical working time” (working only some months during the year) into a “horizontal working time” (their presence will be distributed throughout the year).
The agreement provides a number of positive measures for workers as well (daily meal tickets, paid leaves, loans, etc.).
According to Chief Executive Leonardo Volpicella, who leaded negotiations, “this is an agreement that will leave a mark on the history of Fiera del Levante. It rewards the tenacity and the sense of responsibility of trade unions and will depict the necessary atmosphere to start a renovation process.”
